Festival Feels – Summer in Galway
We’re heading into the best season, SUMMER! Meaning it’s time to prep for that weekend getaway, with summer nights blissfully soaking up the vibrant atmosphere in Galway or dancing all weekend long at your fave gig or festival.
Festival season in Galway is almost upon us, meaning it’s that time of the year where plans are made for summer fun, weekend breaks and catching up with friends.

Galway is also known as a festival city boasting many lively fun events throughout the year. It comes to a standstill every July for the seven-day Galway Racing Festival at Ballybrit racecourse. There is also The Cúirt International Festival of Literature, (April), the Galway Sessions traditional Irish music festival, (June), the Galway Film Fleadh, (July), the world-famous Galway International Arts Festival, (July) and Galway International Oyster Festival, (September).

Galway International Arts Festival
You sense festival on the streets, when the Galway International Arts Festival begins. It is one of the most spectacular arts festivals in the world and attracts over 250,000 visitors each year.
This festival packs in over 200 shows in 25+ locations over 14 days. As for the venues, no space is left untouched: buzzing galleries, intimate theatres, outdoor performances and, of course, the blue and beautiful Big Top Tent.

Why we love ‘The Big Top’.
If you haven’t been to a gig at the Big Top, make sure to add it to your summer goals for 2019.
We love the festival vibe of this unique venue, it’s outdoors, under the evening shimmer of the tents twinkly lights yet indoors, which is ideal with our unpredictable Irish weather! With big festival vibes without the crowds, great artisan food stalls and a picture -perfect setting, next to the River Corrib, Salmon Weir and NUIG. No queues and just a couple of minutes walk into town.
