Taking place on the first Tuesday of each month, from September to June at 1.10pm in St. Nicholas’ Church, the Lunchtime recital @ St. Nicholas’ Church is a popular and long-standing event which caters for all tastes and interest levels in classical music from the novice to the professional. Each month will feature The Galway Ensemble in Residence, ConTempo Quartet string quartets from their repertoire. All performances are preceded with a brief introduction of the music.
Proudly supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner), the Arts Council, GMIT, and Galway City and County Councils, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. From Europe with Love will take place on the first Tuesday of each month (September-June excepting January) until June 2021. Year two of the project will commence on 3rd September 2019.

Follow the an Áit ab Áil Liom digital audio map to immerse yourself in the region’s stories, songs and music while walking the land from which they sprang. Eavesdrop on the secret life of Conamara on the Faoi Rún landscape art and storytelling trail, which appears in the rain. Get to know the Gaeltacht’s people and traditions through Siúlach Scéalach’s specially commissioned performances, workshops and concerts.
These intimate experiences capture the deep connection between the land and its people and the unique sense of place of the Conamara Gaeltacht.

Galway City Museum will be the lead partner on Monument – a project that celebrates the cultural landscapes and visual language of islands in Europe. With a primary focus on the stone forts of Aran, this innovative project will investigate some of Europe’s most impressive stone monuments located on some of Europe’s smallest islands. This project will represent the communities that created these massive monuments and work with the scientists and scholars who have investigated them – focusing on what has endured and what has been lost.

A dramatic new interpretation of the world’s oldest surviving literary epic – the story of Gilgamesh. In 2020, a giant appears in Galway. Two thirds god, one third human – his name is Gilgamesh.
Master storytellers Macnas will bring the epic of Gilgamesh to Galway across four seasons in 2020. Macnas will elevate their signature style, taking traditional theatre and storytelling into new outdoor and digital territories.
During spring 2020, the story of Gilgamesh will unfold. Fragments from the epic will appear across the city and county, inviting intrigue and participation from audiences locally, nationally and internationally.
Summer unleashes the spectacle of Gilgamesh outdoors. Two giants meet across a crowded city joined by a panoply of large-scale characters as Galway becomes the stage for one unforgettable night of revelry.
Each season is a self-contained event and can be experienced independently.

The 2nd Annual Oranmore Arts Festival will take place from the 16th to 19th May 2019. The theme of the festival is Meitheal both to highlight the sense of community in the coastal village and to encourage a tradition of working together for the common good. The festival, with events for all ages, will bring the wealth of local talent to the fore through a unique and exciting programme that includes music, literature, art, theatre and film. Entry to the majority of events is FREE of charge.
Events include Art Exhibitions throughout the village, a Clowning show by Amadan Theatre, a juggling workshop with Stephen McGinley & Amelie bal, a baby disco with music by DJ Will Softly, an intergenerational choir with Amhrán Mór and much much more.
